2. What’s New in Messaging and Apple Pay

IOS 11 brings updates for Messages and Apple Pay. The first has a redesign of the application drawer so that now the apps are more accessible from the bottom of the screen. The great news is that it is now integrated into iCloud, so that from now on you will have the possibility to consult your conversations from any terminal connected to the Internet, and you will be able to synchronise them quickly in all your devices.

Apple Pay also presents interesting innovations in the new version of the operating system. Now, in addition to using it to pay in stores, we can also use the system in applications, on the web and also to make payments between users. To do this, it integrates with the Messages application, so that you can send and receive money in a very simple way and in a couple of clicks.

3. New Camera and Photo Features

Among the new features of iOS 11 introduced by Apple, most amazing new features are of the Camera and Photos apps. On the one hand, with the new version of the operating system, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus can record video using HEVC (High-Efficiency Video Coding), which provides better compression, which means that the files take up less space. In addition, the same technology applies in the case of images, replacing the JPEG with a format called HEIF (High-Efficiency Image Format) that allows you to obtain photos of the same quality that occupy half the space.

On the other hand, iOS 11  optimises the Portrait Mode of the iPhone 7 Plus by increasing the overall quality of images, especially those made in low light, using optical image stabilisation, true tone flash and HDR. Thanks to this, the photos look more professional, with more vivid colours.

Another distinctive feature of iOS 11 is that Live Photos are more expressive thanks to the new Loop, Bounce and Long Exposure effects that allow you to create videos similar to those obtained with the Instagram Boomerang app.

New features of the new version of the operating system for Apple mobile devices also come to the Photos application. Now the Memories feature is available, which scans the gallery to identify the photos and videos and automatically group them by important events, people or pets that appear and similar tags.

4. Control Center Redesign

Among the new features of iOS 11 is the redesign of the Control Center, which is now much more operative and manageable. Now you can access all the quick features, such as volume and playback controls, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity controls, flashlight power button, quick camera access, or Do Not Disturb mode.

The Notification Center has also been optimised and it is now easier to check the above notifications, which can be accessed by simply swiping your finger up the lock screen.

5. Notifications and lock screen, two in one

As Apple has shown in WWDC, the notification centre and lock screen are unified so that the user can query the iOS activity from both sections in a unified way

6. Apple Maps on iOS 11

The Apple maps are together with the new IOS 11, a new feature. That is none other than the pictures of the inner malls. However, for the moment the deployment of such images will focus on commercial galleries in cities such as Boston, Chicago, Hon Kong, London, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Washington or Tokyo, among others.

The same will happen with airports, images that for now will be included of approximately 30 most outstanding in the world. With this implementation, Apple will offer travellers a way not to get lost in the expansive galleries of the world’s main airports.

Other improvements that mapping will receive in Maps is the do not disturb mode for those users who do have Carplay. This will avoid distractions at the wheel since our iPhone can send an SMS warning the caller that the user you are trying to contact is driving.

Similarly, iOS 11 will include a sound effect that will allow the person on the other side of the phone to interpret that the user is driving, so this situation entails any possible oversight.

6. The iPad will be even more powerful

With iOS 11, the iPad is a much more fluid and effective multitasking that allows the Apple tablet to be even more powerful. The new Dock offers quick access to frequently used apps and documents from any screen, and a redesigned application picker makes it much easier to move between the two active apps.

In addition, thanks to the new Files application, which we already knew from a filtering that occurred this morning, you can make a file management much agiler and intuitive, and with drag and drop option it is much easier than never. You can move Files from one place to another.
