How to Setup and Find the Car Parking Location with Apple Maps

Car Parking Location

Did you know that you can find your car parking location all the time?

If you are an iOS user then this is for you.

From iOS 10, Apple Maps brings new functionality that allows us to automatically know where we parked the car at all times. Whenever we park the car and move away from it we are sent a notification from Apple Maps that if we open it shows us the location of the car.

How do you do this?

Whenever the iPhone is synchronized with the car system using Apple Car or Bluetooth, the Car system will know when we disconnected and left the car.

So, set a marker on the map to know where it is located.

The feature is interesting and especially useful if we move quite a bit with the car and not by routine sites.

That is, the function is of little use if we only go to work and to the garage of home with the car, because we know perfectly the two locations. But if we go to a new city or a place that we do not know so much because it is not part of our routine, we can forget to think about where we have parked our car.

Use Google Maps Offline on iOS/Android Devices without Internet

This type of situation happened to one of my friends when they went to Goa and it took almost an hour to find their car. This type of situation will not happen when you have Apple maps with you.

However, if your case is the second, where you do not usually park in unfamiliar places, you may find both the notification annoying and the fact that a new bookmark is always created.

Fortunately, you can disable both notifications and functionality altogether.

Keep in mind that if you turn off the notifications, you will lose all the notifications, including one-step navigation on an agenda. Here is what you should do:

  • Open Settings on your iPhone
  • Go to Notifications
  • Select Maps and disable Notifications

If you want to completely disable the function to find the car parked, the steps are different:

Ways iOS 11 Prevents us from Typing & Talking on Phone While Driving

  • Open Settings on your iPhone
  • Go to Maps
  • In the section YOU CAR, you must deactivate the option of Car Parked

These are the steps to follow to disable the notifications if you always park your car in the same place. Ideally, iOS would recognize you when you parked on a frequent site and stopped notifying you. Maybe we will see it in a future version of iOS.

Awesome isn’t it?

With just a small app in our pocket, we can know where we have parked our car and can easily find out anytime.
